Bonita Sur, PhD

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Sur is passionate about delivering evidence-based treatments to help individuals build resilience, practice flexibility, and find deeper meaning and purpose in their lives. Her clinical areas of expertise include treating anxiety disorders, somatic symptom and related disorders, and trauma and stressor-related disorders. Dr. Sur also provides psychological, developmental and neuropsychological assessment for adults.

Dr. Sur completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester. She completed her M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Ohio University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in Health Psychology at the University of Arizona. During her graduate years, she trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and in psychological assessment for medical procedures (readiness for organ transplant, sleep evaluations) and vocational rehabilitation (psychoeducational and ADHD assessments).

Dr. Sur completed her predoctoral internship at the Syracuse VA in psychological assessment and cognitive behavioral treatments for anxiety, trauma, and substance use, and achieved certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. She also received training in administering pre-surgical psychological evaluations for bariatric surgery and spinal cord stimulation, and psychological and personality assessment. Prior to coming to OCDI Texas, she was an assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine on the Comprehensive Psychiatric Assessment Service Unit of The Menninger Clinic, providing psychological assessments for inpatient psychiatric patients.
