What Is Emetophobia?

The OCD Institute of Texas team explains emetophobia as an intense fear of vomiting that can significantly disrupt daily life. This phobia often leads to avoidance behaviors, such as steering clear of certain foods, social situations, or public places, to minimize the perceived risk of vomiting. We emphasize that emetophobia can be effectively treated through Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, which helps individuals gradually confront and reduce their fears.
